Anniversary art competition for High Wycombe Vets

Anniversary art competition for High Wycombe Vets

Celebrating two years since opening, Hamilton Specialist Referrals, High Wycombe, has launched a competition to design an animal themed mural to be painted on a celebration wall inside the centre. The competition is open to all ages and entries submitted electronically by 31st August will be judged by husband and wife founders, Michael and Clare Hamilton. The winning entry will then be painted on to the wall by a professional artist, and the winner and runners up will also receive prizes of art vouchers.

Since opening in July 2018, the small animal orthopaedic and neurology referral practice has grown to employ over 70 staff. They have taken nearly 4000 diagnostic images and performed over 2500 hours of surgery using approximately 3000 orthopaedic screws, to help lives of pets and their families. Managing Director, Clare Hamilton, says “The competition is a celebration of incredible work of our team since opening, and the pets and owners we have been able to help.”

The practice had planned the competition before Covid-19 struck. Clare says, “We had always intended to have a mural designed for a wall as part of a competition, but our plans were delayed by lockdown. The mural will now serve as a reminder that we were able to come through the challenges of a global pandemic thanks to the dedication and hard work of our amazing team, and even grow the business during this period with the launch of a new cardiology service this month. It seems a fitting way to mark the return to routine procedures and – as far as possible – business as usual.”

Entries are invited from all ages and will be divided into three categories; 8 years and under, 9-16 years and 16 years and over. The winner will be selected from across all entries, and will include a £100 art voucher in addition to having the design recreated as a mural on the reception wall. For each category there will be a runner’s up prize with a print made of the artwork to be displayed at the centre, plus a £50 art voucher. Entries should be a minimum of A4 size and can be created in any art medium (including pencil, pastel, pen and paint), and submitted online as a scan or screen-shot to art@hamiltonspecialists.vet. The original artwork of the winner and runners up pictures will then be requested to use for creating the mural and prints.
