Micron Agritech reaches 100 million parasite eggs detected as it launches companion animal testing and integrated FECRT reporting
Micron Agritech has reached a significant milestone in veterinary diagnostics after detecting more than 100 million parasite eggs through its AI-powered Micron platform, a figure that continues to grow rapidly. The milestone coincides with the launch of Micron Kit +Pet, bringing rapid in-house parasite testing to companion animal practice, and the introduction of integrated Faecal Egg Count Reduction Test (FECRT) reporting, further expanding the company’s connected parasite intelligence platform and supporting a more evidence-based approach to parasite control.

Already used by livestock and equine veterinary professionals worldwide, the Micron platform has now analysed more than 100 million parasite eggs, demonstrating the growing adoption of rapid, point-of-care parasite diagnostics. Micron enables veterinary practices to perform in-house faecal egg counts, providing AI-assisted results in minutes to support timely clinical decision-making.
The launch of Micron Kit +Pet comes at a time when routine parasite testing is becoming increasingly important in companion animal practice. Around one in seven owned pets in Europe are affected by intestinal worms or coccidia1, with many showing no obvious clinical signs, while 63% of dog owners fail to administer worming treatments at the recommended frequency2, highlighting the importance of evidence-based testing to support targeted treatment rather than relying solely on routine worming. Built around gold-standard centrifugal flotation, Micron Kit +Pet uses the existing Micron reader to deliver rapid, AI-assisted parasite testing with less than five minutes of hands-on preparation, enabling any member of the veterinary team to perform testing without specialist laboratory training.
Alongside the companion animal launch, Micron has introduced integrated FECRT reporting, available automatically to all existing Micron users. Practices can now record pre- and post-treatment faecal egg counts, log the treatment administered and generate branded reports demonstrating treatment efficacy and percentage parasite egg count reduction. Automated reminders prompt users when follow-up testing is due, making it easier to monitor treatment success and supporting the early identification of potential anthelmintic resistance.
Both developments integrate with Micron Analytics, allowing practices to move beyond individual test results towards a broader understanding of parasite prevalence, treatment efficacy and emerging trends. Working alongside Micron ID for sample logging and the company’s Predictive Animal Wellness System (PAWS) for parasite forecasting, the platform helps practices use diagnostic data to support long-term parasite management planning and identify changing patterns of infection and treatment performance.
Daniel Izquierdo, CEO at Micron Agritech, said: “Reaching 100 million parasite eggs detected is an important milestone for Micron and reflects the growing confidence veterinary professionals have in rapid, AI-powered diagnostics. As veterinary medicine moves towards more targeted, evidence-based parasite control, we’re continuing to develop tools that make the latest advances in parasite diagnostics available to every practice. By combining companion animal testing with integrated FECRT reporting and Micron Analytics, we’re helping practices generate meaningful data that supports better clinical decisions, improves client communication and helps tackle anthelmintic resistance. We are proud to be building the gold-standard for parasitology.”
Micron Kit +Pet is now available for demonstrations, which can be booked by contacting lilly.v@micronagritech.com, while integrated FECRT reporting has been rolled out automatically to all existing Micron users, further supporting Micron Agritech’s mission to make parasite intelligence faster, more accessible and more actionable for veterinary professionals.
