Vetpol celebrates the success of second annual SQP Congress

After the success of its inaugural event in 2024, Vetpol returned this year with its second annual SQP Congress, held on 8 April 2025 at the 4-star Burleigh Court Hotel in Loughborough. The theme, ’Connecting the SQP Community’, brought together a diverse range of attendees from across the sector, creating a vibrant atmosphere of collaboration, learning and celebration.

Vetpol and AMTRA-registered SQPs from pet and farm retail, veterinary practice, groomers and wildlife rescues were all in attendance, alongside representatives from key organisations including NOAH, Over the Counter, Lantra and WSAVA.

Designed to inspire and upskill, the day offered a packed agenda of engaging CPD sessions, hands-on learning opportunities and time to network and unwind. New for this year, Vetpol introduced two dedicated Learning Zones, hosted by Natures Menu and Frontpro® where delegates could develop practical skills and explore key topics in more depth. Sessions also embraced the value of reflective learning, encouraging delegates to think more deeply about how their learning could be applied. Delegates also took part in a quiz challenge during breaks, designed to extend learning beyond the sessions in a fun and interactive way.

Learning and achievement were also celebrated, with SQP Carla England named CPD Champion 2024, having impressively completed 20 times the required CPD hours over the past year. There were also awards for 2025 SQP Ambassadors recognised for their excellence and dedication, for Andy Currall (Jollyes), Lise-Marie Noon (Receptionist, Forest Vets) and Helen Webb (Jollyes).

The event continued into the evening with a lively party night complete with a three-course meal, and live music from band Go Commando.

Vetpol Co-founder Caroline Johnson, said she was delighted with the feedback from delegates and sponsors alike, “We had overwhelmingly positive comments from everyone who took part. It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm SQPs have for learning and their drive to deliver excellence in all aspects of veterinary medicine supply. We feel very privileged to represent them and to deliver CPD events like this. Our next challenge is to build on this year’s success by actioning our exciting plans through into 2026.”
