Purina Institute webinar addresses ways to tackle client questions about pet food
The Purina Institute is to launch its third webinar in the Collaborative Care series, on the topic of helping clients to identify credible sources of information that address their questions and concerns about petfoods. The webinar takes place online on 14th July at 6pm BST and can be watched live, or on demand post-event. Aimed at all members of the veterinary team across Europe, the webinar is moderated by internationally recognised veterinary nutrition expert Dottie Laflamme and features speakers Shoshanah Verton Shaw, RVT, VTS (nutrition) who provides nutrition support to practices across Canada and Marge Chandler who is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Companion Animal) and the American College of Veterinary Nutrition, and a member of the Australia New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists. Designed to be of practical benefit, the hour-long webinar follows others in the series that allow conversations about nutrition to be integrated into everyday consultations. Misinformation about nutrition can lead to pet owners making poor choices about feeding their pet, with the potential for detrimental effects on health. The speakers will be sharing their tips for handling these discussions in a non-confrontational way that preserves the client bond with the vet and the practice.
Daniel Rodes Moltó is EMENA Regional Leader for the Purina Institute and says that the series has evoked some interesting and positive discussions, “The case-based approach is valued by the veterinary community and our attendees have told us that they especially like the way our speakers from different specialisms have interacted with the audience during the live events, building on their observations to deliver a rich experience. Tools and assessment charts have proved really popular. We’ve also had some lively discussions on what constitutes the ‘best diet’ to meet individual client and pet needs and how to feed in the face of disease.”
