Urinary tract infection diagnostics company builds veterinary team
Test and Treat – the UK-based point of care veterinary diagnostics company – has announced the appointment of vet Rachel Kirkby to the position of Business Development Director. Rachel joins Jo Nickerson, who recently joined the company as National Sales Manager.
Rachel’s role involves supporting the launch of U-Treat in the veterinary sector, U-Treat is a two-part in-house test that firstly detects urinary tract infection (UTI) and if UTI is confirmed, can deliver an antibiotic susceptibility profile within a matter of minutes. Rachel will also be working alongside the research team that led to the development of U-Treat, to explore other applications for the technology, including its use in bovine mastitis, bovine respiratory disease and otitis externa.
Rachel will be collaborating with leading vets in industry and academia to develop the full potential and new applications for the test, in particular the possibilities to improve animal welfare and reduce the development of antimicrobial resistance.
Graduating from the Royal Veterinary College in 2006, Rachel has completed a post-graduate certificate in small animal medicine and worked as lead vet at a busy West London Clinic for the past six years, before joining Test and Treat in July.
Jo is an RVN who began her career in practice. She is highly experienced in veterinary business development roles and has spent the past 12 years working in animal health and veterinary diagnostics, supporting veterinary practices to grow and achieve excellence.
Both Jo and Rachel are looking forward to helping veterinary surgeons attain first contact resolution on UTIs and move towards an improved strategy on responsible use on antimicrobials, using the U-Treat test.
Jo understands that many practices are busy playing ‘catch up’ following the relaxation of lockdown restrictions and the Test and Treat team can work flexibly to meet their needs, “The need to manage infections is obviously at the heart of what we do, so we’re offering virtual demonstrations for practices that want to find out more about point of care urinary diagnostics but are seeking to minimise face to face contact. The test also offers potential for remote triage and the reassurance of knowing that the right antibiotic is given first time, so it has some real benefits for veterinary teams who are still working under trying circumstances. Our message is, we’re here to support you with best practice diagnostics whenever you are ready.”
Both Rachel and Jo are looking forward to ‘meeting’ delegates at the Vets Now ECC Virtual Congress in November. Veterinary professionals and practice managers can book a virtual demo or find out more by contacting Jo on 447808647377, email Jo.Nickerson@tandtreat.com or visit http://www.tandtreat.com.
